I spotted this Schefflera arboricola on my last visit to a wonderful florist, Flowers and Plants. I have so much for appreciation for this hardy plant. Its shiny and abundant leaf clusters are cheery and calming at the same time.
There was a time when I took care of plants in offices. The arboricola was often used in work spaces. It is easy to prune so it can stay in one place for a long time. It is very sturdy and can survive in bright indirect light or some direct sun.
Its also known as a Hawaiian schefflera and it is a great plant for a beginner. It can eventually grow several feet high. It is an accomplishment to have one stay and grow with you for many years. They become members of the family!
You can send indoor plants and floral arrangements almost anywhere in the world from this florist:
- Bright indirect light or some direct sun.
- Let the soil dry out thoroughly on top before watering. A plant in a 10"(25cm) diameter pot should be given about 2 quarts (almost 2 liters) of water when necessary. Smaller pots should be watered enough that a little water drains into its saucer. Don't let it sit in water very long.
- It should be dusted regularly and may need a shower in the bathtub or light spraying with a hose to clean it up from time to time.
- Fertilize regularly for best growth.
